Title: Large Scale Dynamics and Fluctuations in Non-Equilibrium Stochastic Particle Systems
Description: Considering the Zero-Range Process under four different kinds of jump rates and the Inclusion Process, the current fluctuations of these models have been studied from different point of views. For what regards the ring geometry, large deviations of the current have been analyzed from a macroscopic perspective within the framework of the Jensen-Varadhan functional as well as the Macroscopic Fluctuation Theory. For the open boundaries case, that is when the system is contact with particle reservoirs, microscopic techniques stemming from a quantum approach to stochastic processes have been used. All theoretical results are supported by numerical simulation performed using the Cloning Algorithm.
Laurea Magistrale, Master of Science ("Sapienza" University, Rome, IT)
Description: The free energy of a spin model consisting of all the possible interactions (self and reciprocal) of dichotomic and gaussian distributed variables has been solved using analytical interpolation techniques. The solution is obtained both for ferromagnetic and disordered interactions (at least at the replica symmetric level). Moreover, fluctuations of the order parameters are given as a system of differential equations. The main result in both cases, consists of a balanced situation between the weights of the two groups of variables resulting in a line of minimums for the free energy.
Title: X-Rays absorption and determining of positioning of adsorbed molecules
Description: Taking as reference the NEXAFS spectroscopy technique, calculation of the transition probability of an electron of an adsorbed molecule in function of the inclination angle respect to the adsorbing surface, has been performed. Moreover typically used experimental NEXAFS tricks have been quantitavely analyzed.
